the living water…
JESUS CHRIST gives the LIVING WATER that sustains our LIFE…
“ Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
And whose hope is the LORD.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NKJV)
I went on vacation in the southern part of our country and spend quite a few hours on the airplane to reach this beautiful tropical Island of Bohol. During the descend from the air cruising 33,000 feet above sea level slowly as we approach to land, I was able to see an aerial view of the contrasting greeneries of the mountains and the blistered grounds where the grass are scorched during these hot summer months …I can’t help but noticed that the trees near the riverbeds are alive and thriving with leaves that are distinctively green…then I was reminded that you and I are like the TREES….that would definitely dry up and withered without the LIVING WATER that flows from JESUS CHRIST!
When we put our HOPE and our TRUST in the Lord we will be like a tree planted next to the water sending our roots deep into the riverbed of God’s Word and drawing the thirst-quenching, life-sustaining truth from the flow of His Spirit. We are then BLESSED as stated in God’s promise in Jeremiah and more so we will continue to bear FRUIT for others to be nourished as well. We ought to strive to remain close to the One who offers us the sustenance of LIFE and soak up in the LIVING WATER by putting our HOPE and our TRUST in JESUS CHRIST!
Would you like to be planted near the riverbank so your roots can drink of the LIVING WATER that Jesus Christ is offering?
Would you like to have the ASSURANCE that when the heat comes in the year of drought, your leaves will remain GREEN and you will never cease to bear FRUIT?
You can be the man or woman that Jeremiah called BLESSED by putting your HOPE and your TRUST in Jesus Christ today ….
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that I will continue to dry up without the life-giving power that comes from You. I am tired of living in my own strength and living in the way that separates me from You. I confessed that I have sinned and fallen short of Your glory. I thank You that You sent Your Son Jesus to save me and pay the penalty for my sins. I believe that He died on the cross for me. I believed that You raised Him from the dead. I am sorry for my sins and I ask You to forgive and cleanse me. I want to turn away from everything the Bible calls sin and I put my HOPE and TRUST in Your Son Jesus Christ… I now receive Him as my Lord and Savior. Help me to love, serve and obey You for the rest of my life. Thank you for pulling me out from the dry land and planting me beside Your riverbank so that my roots can spread out and drink of Your LIVING WATER from this day onwards. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen!
