the good shepherd…

JESUS CHRIST said “I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep, I know My sheep, and am known by My own.”

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life; and I will dwell in
the house of the LORD forever.”
Psalm 23:1-6 (NKJV)

According to Wikipedia, “SHEEP are often associated with obedience due to the widespread perception that they lack intelligence and their undoubted herd mentality, hence the pejorative connotation of the adjective OVINE.”

There is also this common myth that sheep are DUMB …
because of their behavior of having a strong flocking instinct, which is largely responsible for their brainless reputation, when the sheep would try to make it to their flockmates in times of danger seeking protection from predators by tight-flocking.

As I am meditating on the 23rd chapter of the Book of Psalm I started to wonder why God have likened us to a SHEEP… looking out for the attributes of a sheep I begin to understand some similarities that makes us OVINE… and learned that the symbology that relates to sheep in the teachings of Christianity using sheep-related images as Christ as the good shepherd, is deemed applicable to us today even in our modern day generation…

Sometimes we are defenseless like sheep we need a PROTECTOR
Sometimes we are wary like sheep we need a COMFORTER
Sometimes we are in want like sheep we need PROVISION
Sometimes we are lacking wisdom like sheep we need GUIDANCE

Being like SHEEP…to whose FLOCK do you belong?
Are you a sheep in WANT? …are your needs being met…
Are you a sheep in GREEN PASTURES?….are you well fed…
Are you a sheep beside STILL WATER?….do you have peace…
Are you a LOST SHEEP? …have you gone astray…

There is a GOOD SHEPHERD who will leave His ninety-nine sheep in an open country and go after ONE lost sheep until He finds it…He seek the lost and brings back the astray. He knows His sheep and His sheep knows Him…He lay down His LIFE for His sheep…

Would you like to belong to the FLOCK of the GOOD SHEPHERD?

Would like to have the ASSURANCE of your SOUL being RESTORED?

Would you like to receive the COMFORT that will take away all your fears when you walk through the valley of the shadow of death?

Become a SMART SHEEP today…by becoming Jesus’sheep…

Heavenly Father…I come before you today for you have found me. I am tired of roaming on the mountains and wondering over the hills and never finding a resting place. I believe that You are Lord and that you have made me and I am Yours. You sent Your only begotten Son to die for me and rose again. I have been a lost sheep who have gone astray. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Today I put my TRUST in Jesus Christ to be my SHEPHERD and receive Him as my Lord and Savior. Come into my HEART and help me to live my life as an OBEDIENT SHEEP of Your pasture from this day onwards. I call on Your Name and pray in Your Name Jesus. Amen.

*after you prayed and received Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord….WHAT’S NEXT.

“For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” -1 Peter 2:25 (NIV)

“Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the LORD is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.”Psalm 100:3-5 (NIV)
